MOTHERHOOD JUST KEEPS ON HUMMING ALONG...

Detail of more mature cicada

This installation was an originally a BFA project of mine at the School of Visual Arts in NYC.

However, I still show it periodically and remains popular with viewers.

The materials used are wire, fans, electrical wire, cheese cloth, acrylic paint and shellac.

All cicadas are in varying stages of metamorphosis and are wired in series to make a rattling sound when plugged in with an adaptor.
